About

I'm Kai. I write what the city leaves behind.

The city goes by faster than I can write it down — notes from the move. LifeInMotion is my pen name and this site is where those notes land.

Portrait of Kai, author of LifeInMotion

I live at Blk 55 Marine Terrace, #03-118 — close enough to East Coast that sea air sometimes wins over cooking smells, far enough from town that the last bus home still matters. I've been in this flat long enough to know which lift groans and which uncle at the kopitiam asks about your weekend before you sit down.

LifeInMotion started as a folder of voice memos on my phone. I'd finish a ride, walk up to my floor, and realise I'd already forgotten the detail that made the trip worth it: a stranger adjusting someone else's umbrella, the exact colour of kopi after ice melts, the sound of tyres on wet paint at a crossing. Typing forced me to slow down. Publishing forced me to be honest about what I actually saw versus what I wished I'd seen.

I'm not a journalist, tour guide, or urban planner. I work a regular office week and write in the gaps — early mornings before the heat, late nights when the MRT thins out. My posts stay in present tense on purpose. Past tense smooths edges; present tense keeps the sweat and the impatience in the frame.

What you'll find here: cycling along the park connector, kopi stops, commutes that run long, small kindnesses between strangers. What you won't find: ranked lists, sponsored posts, or advice dressed up as certainty. Singapore changes fast; my notes are snapshots, not manuals.

If something I wrote matches your corner of the island, I'd like to hear it. If I got a detail wrong — a bus number, a shop that closed, a street that renamed — tell me. Corrections keep the notebook honest.

Personal journal, full stop. These pages are my own observations. They are not recommendations for where to live, ride, eat, or invest your time. Use your judgment, check official sources, and treat my stories the way you'd treat chat over kopi — interesting, maybe useful, never gospel.
